Leading an Inclusive Cross-Cultural Team

About this module

In this experience, the learner will take on the role of Vice President of Marketing. They are tasked with representing Verden Canada while leading across-cultural steering team (i.e., a team comprised of new employees representing different cultures from around the world). Verden has been transforming its services into a subscription model, moving away from physical products and paper publishing. As a result, Verden now sees an opportunity to expand into an international market, hence the formation of this steering team.

The learner will need to set expectations for their team members and act as a mediator between their different cultures and personalities. They will need to act professionally, remaining impartial and committed to the task at hand as they try to navigate the problems that may arise from intercultural differences. By the end of the module, the learner will understand the diversity that every person brings to the workplace, different perspectives on what is important and appropriate, and must recognize and include cultural perspectives as a strength.
