Problem Solving - Central Transit Services
In this experiential learning module on Problem Solving, the learner takes on the role of a consultant from Lyka Consulting, a distributed firm that specializes in aiding clients with the difficulties of AI-driven digital transformation. Lyka’s newest client is Central Transit Service (CTS), the primary public transportation service for Central City. CTS is still recovering from a recent incident when video footage of a fare inspector demonstrating racial bias in regularly scheduled inspections of riders was leaked to the public. As a result, customer satisfaction is at an all-time low, and ridership has been steadily falling.
CTS is currently implementing significant upgrades to the infrastructure, including an AI-powered adaptive notification system. This new software system will track users’ transit habits, notify them about potential delays on their predicted route, and proactively suggest alternatives. CTS intends to launch this new software now that the initial pilot of the system has ended. However, customers do not trust the operator, and the company is experiencing pushback after making the public announcement. After holding several focus groups and attempting to mitigate the negative feedback, CTS has turned to Lyka Consulting for help in addressing these concerns.
